I converted my desk to an adjustable desk in May 2010 and it is one of the best things I have ever done in terms of lifestyle change. Most days I stand for the entire workday. Only when I am really tired do I feel the need to sit. My next goal is to get a treadmill desk (Trekdesk or Steelcase Walkstation) so I can walk 7 or 8 miles during a work day. It would be great to burn an extra 700 calories a day at work. In the meantime, it feels great to stand as much as possible.

This is a new trend for radiologists- those kind folks who spend their entire day reading CT scans for us in a dark cave somewhere near the bottom of the hospital. One group on the east coast has gone as far as buying treadmills for their team, so they can walk a few miles each day while reading and dictating films. Turns out, it doesnt negatively effect their productivity or accuracy at all, and makes them feel a million times better.
