There's no need to escape the Psycho Colleague (PC). Even though he's frustrating as hell, with the right attitude, he provides quite a bit of comic relief in the workplace.

My main hope is for a secondment is greed. In fact, I have an old blog entry all about it titled Spring Rolls

I see. Thanks for the insight.

I always looked at the labour cost as the main goal for outsourcing jobs, the actual economic growth is another factor I never really considered.

Was the main hope for a secondment fueled by a need to escape PC? :-)

The Big Flux means it's a mixture of both when hiring in North America. In China and India, co-location is one major reason for continued job growth for FluxCorp in those regions. With their economies growing at 3-4x the pace, it only makes sense the jobs required to support those customers grow at the same pace. Add to that the cost of labour advantage and no wonder all of the headcount growth will be over there.

I tried to get a secondment over to China, to live the cushy ex-pat life and ride the wave of the Chinese economy. It wasn't meant to be though... :-(
