Aside from the 555 contest I mentioned in my last post, my February was spent building the workbench I drew in Google Sketchup. It was built partially for The Amp Hour, partially for circuits I plan on building and showing off on here and partially for my new business, Analog Life, LLC.

Great Bench! I realize I’m a little late coming to the party. My requirements are almost the same as yours except my bench will be U shaped. I don’t want any legs on the inside corners and was looking for construction ideas. I hadn’t thought of deck hardware and was wondering how it has held up. Any wobble yet?
Also, I literally laughed out loud when I saw your old “bench”. That table is exactly the same one I use for the left leg of my bench currently. I’ve been using it for 15 years now and think I paid about $7 for it at a Thrift Shop. The top is indestructible and solder, machine oil, and grease just wipe off. How has your top held up?
Yeah those formica tables will survive nuclear winter.
The bench has no wobble, it’s a tank. The leveling process helped that. But it is seriously strong, I regularly clamber up on top of it without issue. It’s now bolted to the wall as well, so that helps as well. Good luck with your build!
